Please use the following as a rough guide only. All our students are expected to make their own travel arrangements to Bath. Consult your local or student travel agent, who will advise you about cheap flights and boat/train passages and coach journeys to England.

For your onward journey to Bath we advise you to book your tickets and make seat reservations well in advance, particularly on National Express coaches. Without a reservation you may not be allowed to travel on the first coach available.

Check timetables and prices before you book. Always ask for the cheapes deal available for the dates and time you want to travel. You can book your ticket and reserve a seat by phone with a credit card.

If you can, book straight through to Bath. Trains arrive at Bath Spa Station and coaches at Bath Bus Station, both of which are central.

Avoid taking flights, boat/train passages and coaches that arrive too late in London for you to get a convenient train or bus connection to Bath! The cheapest transport to Bath is by NATIONAL EXPRESS COACH.

Students on 5 and 10-week courses should note that National Express return tickets are valid for 3 months, whereas "budget" return tickets for trains are valid for one calendar month only.

HOW TO GET TO BATH AFTER YOUR ARRIVAL IN THE UK -
Points of arrival in the UK:


1.)

Bristol Airport
There are flights from several European countries to Bristol Airport but no direct public transport from the airport to Bath. A fast shuttle service gets you to Bristol Temple Mead Railway Station or Bristol Coach Station. Change for Bath. Taxis from the Airport to Bath cost approx. £35.



2.)

Dover
Take the next fast train to Victoria Station, London. To catch the National Express Coach to Bath: go to nearby Victoria Coach Station (see Box 7).
To catch a train to Bath: go by Underground on the Circle Line or by taxi to Paddington Station, London (see Box 5)



3.)

London
Gatwick Airport
By National Express Coach:

Gatwick-Heathrow-Bath. You need to catch a coach from Gatwick to Heathrow and change there for Bath. There are two or three coaches an hour from Gatwick to Heathrow. Check times when you arrive. Duration of journey to Bath approx. 5 hours. There are more frequent coaches to Bristol and you can get a local bus from Bristol to Bath.

4.)

London
Heathrow Airport
By National Express Coach:

Coaches run approx. every 1hr 30 mins - 2 hours from Heathrow Central Coach Station to Bath Bus Station. Check specific times when you arrive. The journey takes approx..2hrs-2hrs 40mins. Fares: Ask for the best return deal when booking.
Return tickets are valid for 3 months.
By "Railair Link":
Heathrow-Reading-Bath. The Railair Link coach picks up passengers outside all four air terminals and takes you to Reading Central Station where you take the next intercity train to Bath Spa Station. The Railair Link Coach service runs every half hour from 6.45-23.15. Phone National Rail Enquiries (0044 8457 484950) for timetable to Bath.



5.)

London
Paddington Station

Catch the next intercity to Bath, which takes about 1h 30mins.
Return tickets are valid for one calendar month only.



6.)

London
Stansted Airport

By coach:
Take coach from Stanstead to Victoria Coach Station and change there for Bath (see Box 7)
By train:
Take next train to Liverpool Street, London. From there go by underground on the Circle Line to Paddington Station (See Box 5).



7.)

London
Victoria Coach Station

Take the National Express Coach to Bath. The journey takes between 2hrs 30mins and 3hrs 15mins, depending on the time of travel.
The return ticket is valid for 3 months.



8.)

London
Waterloo Station

EURstar trains terminate at London Waterloo.
Onward journey by coach: take a taxi to Victoria Coach Station (Box 7).
Onward journey by train: if there is no convenient direct train to bath from Waterloo, go by taxi, or cheaper, by underground on the Bakerloo Line to Paddington Staion (Box 5).



9.)

Luton Airport
Take either shuttle service into London and proceed from there by coach or train (see above) or take coach to Heathrow Airport and from there go by National Express to Bath. Book your ticket in advance if possible.
